  • Mac version requires Mac OS 10.3 or higher

Standard Log Recording Capabilities
Status reports are sent from your computer to our servers every 60 minutes. Other reports, such as startup, shutdown, standby, hibernate, login and logoff reports are sent immediately as they occur.

External (public) and internal (local) IP addresses - If the computer connects through a firewall, then the external IP address recorded would be the address of the firewall.
Date and Time - Report time is recorded each time a report is sent by a WinLocate computer. All times are adjusted to UTC times and converted to your local time zone when reports are viewed on the web.
Message Type - Message types are recorded to indicate the type of information that was logged, such as startups and shutdowns, logons, logoffs, status message, time syncs, etc.
Logged-in User - The user name of the currently logged in user is recorded.
Average Key Presses Per Minute (KPM).
Average Mouse Clicks Per Minute (MPM).
Time Online - Total continuous time online is recorded when an Internet connection is available and is reset when the connection is no longer available.
Time Since Last Activity - Total continuous periods of inactivity are recorded where there is no user input from either the keyboard or mouse.
Total Active Minutes - An "active minute" is a 60 second period of time where some user input (keyboard or mouse) was detected. If no user input is detected for a given minute, then the computer is considered inactive for that time period. Periods of activity are recorded as "active minutes" so overall computer usage can be determined and compared to other computers if desired.
Kilobytes In and Kilobytes Out - Network (Internet) activity is recorded in both directions (download and upload) and bandwidth totals are calculated.
CPU Load - Average CPU load of the computer (in percent) is calculated for each reporting period. This is useful in determining if an application is causing abnormal loads on your computer.
Ports In Use - The maximum number of network/Internet ports (connections to computers or network devices) used during each reporting period. This is useful in determining if the number of Internet connections deviates from normal values and detecting virus, trojan and "zombie" infected machines and DDoS attacks.
Real-time Configuration Reports - Click a link and remotely retrieve a printable system configuration report that contains information about the computers hardware, disk space, running programs, open tasks, installed services, TCP/IP ports in use, active network connections, event log entries, and more. Even custom log files. A great tool for troubleshooting problems and ensuring users are not running unauthorized software.
Remote Commands - Remotely log off users, reboot or shutdown the system.

Other Features

One Minute Setup - WinLocate can be literally installed and configured in less than 60 seconds. After it is installed, there are no settings that ever need to be changed.
Stealth Operation - WinLocate installs as a system process and the user will never know it is running. There are no icons created, no program entries created, no uninstall options, and no options that can be changed.
Internal Clock - WinLocate has a built in internal UTC clock so that the time recorded when a report is sent is always the exact, current time. The correct time will be recorded even if the user changes the computers system clock.
Automatic Clock Synchronization - The computers internal clock can optionally be synchronized to a time server whenever the WinLocate internal clock is synchronized.
User Definable Reporting Days/Times - WinLocate can be installed to report only at specific times, or for specific time periods and days of the week. This is extremely useful in situations where WinLocate is used as an employee monitoring tool and the employee is also allowed to use the computer for personal use "after hours".
User Definable Groups - Users can define reporting groups (i.e. sales, support, accounting) for group reporting and comparisons of users within defined groups.
Syslog Compatible - WinLocate can be installed in a Syslog Compatible mode by advanced administrators who want to maintain their own data. All data is sent in a tab delimited format and field definitions are available for custom logging and reporting.

Web Interface Features

Secure - Statistics for computers licensed under your account are stored on our servers and can be accessed only by you or others you designate. Statistics for each computer are maintained for 90 days in the WinLocate user database. Raw logs are maintained for 12 months.
Add New Computers Anytime - Our license management system allows you to add new computers or renew existing licenses any time you like. Charges are automatically prorated so all computers licensed under your account renew on the same day, regardless of when you add them. Multiple computer discounts are also automatically applied. Renewals are simple, and the licenses for all computers can be renewed with a single transaction.
Daily Overview - The main WinLocate user page shows daily statistics for all computers licensed under your account. Color coded entries draw attention to unusual situations like computers that are off-line, high CPU utilization, etc. You can simply click on a computer name to get full detail for each computer.
Computer Views - Individual reports are easily viewed for any computer. Hourly activity statistics are shown as well as login/logout times, startup/shutdown times, etc. IP addresses are also shown and one-click tools are provided for determining the actual current location of the computer as well as the Internet Service Provider name and address.
Reports - Custom reports for specified time periods are available.
Graphs - Custom graphs are available for viewing various activity levels for a single computer, or for comparing activity levels for user defined groups of computers.
Alerts - Custom alerts can be defined to send email messages to you when certain criteria are met. For example, you can have an alert sent to your email address when a computer comes online, exceeds a certain bandwidth level or has a high CPU load.
